Inspiring you on the countdown to Christmas

Simplify Christmas

‘Tis the season, presents to buy, parties to plan, decorations to hang, cookies to bake, cards to write the list goes on and on and on. Holiday time is exciting and a bit overwhelming. I have a question for you, can you take some time to slow down and nurture yourself when you are being pulled in so many different directions? It’s a choice, everything we do is a choice and every single day we can choose all over again. What will you choose? I am thinking we should have a list of choices that are rewarding in order to stay connected to joy and peace and simplicity. Slow down, breathe, connect to the child in you that LOVED Christmas!

Joy and Inspiration

I know we are all filled with many things to do each day and reading my suggestions may just seem like one more thing to do but bear with me. My hope it that the ideas and readings I offer you, allow you more time for joy and inspiration. More time for deep breaths and time for you. Take the time for yourself, offer to you what you would like to offer to the world. When you practice this you will have more of you to give!

Countdown to Christmas Idea list

Watch an animated Christmas special. Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer, Santa Clause is Coming to Town, or A Year Without a Santa Clause. The simple practice of watching an animated classic offers an array of opportunities for joy.

Words that make you smile

One of my favorite Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer segments is, when Donner puts mud on Rudolph’s nose and he says:Alright, son, try it on.
Rudolph:
I don’t want to, Daddy. I don’t like it.
Donner:
You’ll like it and wear it!
Rudolph:
But Daddy, it’s not very comfortable!
Donner:
There are more important things than comfort: self-respect!

More Ideas for Christmas joy

Light some Holiday scented candles, turn on Christmas classics and take a bubble bath! This is time just for you, no interruptions, no lists, no place you must be. This is time just for you enjoy!

Build a snowman. Put your boots on, gloves, hat coat and get out there. Roll snow balls in progressively smaller balls till you have three! Get some sticks, rocks and a carrot. It can be tiny or as big as you want. Set him up outside your window and I promise you every time you look at it, it will make you smile!

Catch snowflakes on your tongue.

Hold the door for someone

Make a point to put cash in the red bell ringers’ bucket for Salvation Army at least 10 times through out the season.

Make a count down to Christmas paper chain out of construction paper and glue, you get to tear off a ring every day. Now that is worth waking up for isn’t it?

There are so many more ideas! I have an idea right now maybe I could post an idea everyday for you to try as we count down to Christmas? Let me know if you would like some more inspiration. Just try to take a moment for the simple joys of this most precious time of year!

Merry Christmas
